Follow these steps to resolve most Windows 11 activation issues:
- Check activation status
- Select Start > Settings > System > Activation.
- Note any error code shown there (for example, 0x800704CF or 0xC004C060) and the activation message.
- Enter a valid product key (if you have one)
- In Settings > System > Activation, select Change product key.
- Enter the 25-character product key and complete activation.
- If Windows shows error 0x800704CF, it means no valid license was found. Use a valid key from:
- The confirmation email from the purchase.
- The packaging that came with the device.
- The Certificate of Authenticity (COA) label on the device.
- Use the Activation troubleshooter (if hardware changed)
- If major hardware was changed (for example, motherboard replacement) and activation fails, run the Windows Activation troubleshooter from the Activation settings page.
- Follow the prompts to reactivate. You might be asked to go through a reactivation process.

- Enter a different product key or buy a new one.
