Question

How do I get my text document back to full size, I reduced a page by the little arrows, now all text documents are that size???

Hi Ronnie Hoskins, 

I can see that the Q&A Assist has given some suggestions on system scaling. However, from your description, it also sounds like a Notepad window/zoom setting. Notepad remembers the last state you used, so if you resized the window using the corner or arrow, every new document will open the same way. If that’s truly the case, here’s what to do:

1 - Window size

• Open Notepad > navigate your mouse pointer to the edges
• Click and drag the window back to full size manually
• Close Notepad while it is in the correct size.

2 - If the text itself looks small

• In Notepad, click View > Zoom > Reset or press Ctrl + 0
• If you want to change the size to your liking:
  • In the Zoom option above > Zoom in/Zoom out
  • Press Ctrl and use the scroll wheel on your mouse.

If it still reopens small after resizing, or if another issue appears, please let me know. Since you also tagged the question within Insider Program, we can’t rule out the possibility of a build regression. It would be very helpful if you could provide a screenshot of the issue (press Win + S to capture).

The text size change is a display/zoom setting, not a permanent change to the documents. Reset the zoom or display scaling so text documents appear at normal size again.

On Windows 10 or Windows 11, adjust display scaling:

1. Select Start > Settings.
2. In Windows 11: go to Accessibility > Text size and move the slider to adjust only text size, or go to Display and change Scale to a value like 100%.
3. In Windows 10: go to Ease of Access > Display and use Make text bigger or Make everything bigger to return to a comfortable size.

To temporarily zoom text in or out anywhere on the screen, use Magnifier:

• Turn on Magnifier: press Windows key + Plus (+).
• Zoom in: keep pressing Windows key + Plus (+).
• Zoom out: press Windows key + Minus (-).
• Turn off Magnifier: press Windows key + Esc.

Once display scaling or Magnifier zoom is reset, Notepad and other text documents will appear at normal size again.
