    Hi,

Check the keyboard between the F1 and F12 keys to see if there's one with a camera icon. Press it to see if it unlocks. If that doesn't work, try Fn+F and the key with the camera icon.

Also check if it's a laptop; there should be a privacy palette located on top of the camera.

    Thanks

Follow these steps in order and test the camera after each step.

    1. Check the physical camera switch or shutter
      • Look around the laptop screen and keyboard for:
        • A small slider over the camera lens (privacy shutter). Slide it open.
        • A key with a camera icon on the keyboard (often one of the F1–F12 keys). Press it, or press Fn + that key.
        • A sliding switch on the side of the laptop. Make sure it is in the On position.
    2. Make sure the camera is connected
      • If using an external USB webcam:
        • Unplug it and plug it back in firmly.
        • Try a different USB port.
        • If possible, test the webcam on another computer to confirm it works.
    3. Run the Windows camera troubleshooter
      • On Windows 10 or Windows 11:
        • Open Start and search for Get Help.
        • Open it and run the Camera troubleshooter (it will automatically check and try to fix camera problems).
    4. Test the camera in the Camera app
      • Select Start > type Camera > open the Camera app.
      • If the preview works here, the camera is fine and the issue is with the webinar/recording app’s settings (choose the correct camera inside that app).
    5. Update or switch the camera driver
      • Open Start > type Device Manager > open it.
      • Expand Cameras (or Imaging devices) and find the webcam.
      • Right‑click the webcam > Update driver.
      • First choose Search automatically for drivers and let Windows install anything it finds.
      • If the camera still does not work, repeat but this time:
        1. Right‑click webcam > Update driver.
        2. Browse my computer for drivers.
        3. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.
        4. Select USB Video Device > Next.
        5. Restart the PC.
    6. Check for Windows updates
      • Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      • Install all updates, restart, and test the camera again.
    7. If still black image
      • Make sure nothing is physically blocking the lens and that the room is lit.
      • If the camera works on another device but not this one after all steps above, use an external USB webcam as a workaround for recording the webinar.
