This is a new problem this morning. Did you do an update in the last 24 hours.

I have tried all the suggested solutions and NONE OF THE WORK.

I have a huge project that needs multi-level lists. Need to complete ASAP!!!!

Is there a bug in the system?

Please try an Office Repair. The Online Repair option is more thorough.

When numbering goes to the wrong list level, the "Style for following paragraph" setting may be responsible. It will be easier to tell for certain, if you explain your setup a bit more in detail, though. Are you using numbered headings (with intervening unnumbered text paragraphs) or is this some other type of multilevel list?

Generally, you should verify the settings for each level in the Multilevel List dialog box. Click in the first level 1 paragraph of your list and then go to Home tab > Paragraph group > Multilevel List > Define New Multilevel List.
