If you need to purchase more OneDrive storage, you can purchase a subscription to Microsoft 365, the Basic version will provide you with 100GB of OneDrive storage, or if you purchase the Personal version, you will get 1TB of OneDrive storage and also be able to install the Office apps on your devices.

For a free Microsoft account that has reached the 5 GB cloud storage limit, additional storage can be obtained by purchasing a Microsoft 365 subscription or standalone extra storage.

    Options:

    1. Buy a Microsoft 365 subscription (Personal or Family) to increase storage beyond the free 5 GB allocation. This adds 1 TB of cloud storage per subscription account holder, shared across OneDrive files, Outlook.com attachments, and Microsoft 365 apps.
    2. If already subscribed to Microsoft 365 Personal or Family, extend storage further by purchasing additional OneDrive file storage on top of the included 1 TB.

You only need to buy more storage if usage exceeds the free allocation. If mailbox (email) storage is the concern, note that Outlook.com provides 15 GB of free email storage separate from the 5 GB cloud storage; consumer mailboxes can go up to 100 GB with a Microsoft 365 subscription, but beyond that limit, space must be freed or an Enterprise plan considered.

Purchases and upgrades can be made using the official “Buy now,” “Upgrade,” or “Extend your OneDrive” options referenced in the documentation pages:
