URGENT: Lost Hotmail account – possible orphaned alias I need help from a Microsoft moderator or escalation team. My email: ******@hotmail.com Problem: - I cannot sign into this account (it says account does not exist) - I cannot add it to any other Microsoft account (it says already in use) - It is not listed under any Microsoft account I can access Context: - I was changing aliases and switched my primary email to Gmail - After that, the Hotmail address disappeared from my account - Now it appears to be stuck in the system I have already: - Tried sign‑in and recovery - Used chat support and phone support - Tried adding it back as an alias None of these work This appears to be an orphaned or detached alias. Request: Please escalate this to Microsoft support to: - restore access to the account OR - release the email so it can be re‑added This is blocking access to years of data. Thank you.

Hi. I'm Brian and I'll try to help.

Keep in mind that these are user forums. No one here has access to the Microsoft servers or any accounts other than our own.

If an alias that uses a Microsoft domain like @hotmail.com is removed from an account, that removal is immediate and permanent. That's why you receive the error that the account doesn't exist. However, Microsoft keeps track of all deleted aliases so they can't be reused. If you try to add it as an alias again, you'll get the error that the alias already exists. There is no way around this restriction.

The answer is not correct based on my chat for two days now. I need to speak to a back end tech who can release this email so it can be used.
