    Hi!

This could indicate a hardware problem, a problem with the touchpad driver, or something related to power settings.

Is this your first time using this laptop (did you recently buy it) or have you had it for a while?

Did the problem start after replacing a part or performing maintenance, installing a program, game, or update?

Which version of Windows do you have installed?

    • Press WINDOWS + R > Type "winver" (no quotes) > Take a Screenshot of the Window and send it to me

What is the manufacturer and model of your laptop?

    • Press WINDOWS + R > Type "msinfo32" > In System Summary, send me a screenshot.

The behavior points to either Windows freezing or a touchpad/driver issue that appears when the device has been idle briefly.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. If the screen is already frozen
      • Force a shutdown and restart:
        • Press and hold the power button until the PC shuts down and restarts and the Windows logo appears again (about 20 seconds), then release the power button.
    2. Update the touchpad driver
      • In Windows 10/11, a non‑working or unstable touchpad is often caused by a missing or outdated driver.
      • Use Windows Update (recommended):
        • Open Settings → Windows Update and install all available updates, including drivers.
      • Or use Device Manager:
        • Open Device Manager.
        • Look under Human Interface Devices and Mice and other pointing devices for the touchpad entry.
        • Right‑click it → Update driver and follow the prompts.
    3. Reinstall the touchpad driver
      • If updating does not help, reinstall via Device Manager to force Windows to fetch a fresh driver from Windows Update:
        • In Device Manager, under Human Interface Devices or Mice and other pointing devices, right‑click the touchpad → Uninstall device.
        • Restart the PC so Windows can reinstall the driver automatically.
    4. If freezes continue beyond the touchpad
      • Treat it as a general Windows freeze:
        • Each time it locks up, force a shutdown and restart using the power button as above.
        • If this happens repeatedly, check whether it is tied to a specific app or action and avoid that app until drivers and updates are fully applied.

If updating and reinstalling the touchpad driver do not resolve the issue, contact the device manufacturer for further diagnostics, as recommended.
