The app is asking for a code because the account has two-step verification/passwordless sign-in enabled, so password-only sign-in is no longer allowed. To get back in, try these steps:

    1. Use another verification method
      • On the sign-in screen, choose Sign in another way (or similar) and select:
        • SMS code to the phone number on the account, or
        • Email code to a recovery email address.
      • Enter the code to complete sign-in, then review security settings.
    2. Check for blocks or errors
      • If seeing “Try another verification method” or similar blocks, it may be due to unusual activity or too many verification attempts. In that case:
        1. Try a different verification method (SMS vs email).
        2. Try another network (switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data).
        3. Wait at least 24 hours without repeated attempts before trying again.
        4. Use the sign-in helper if available: Start.
    3. If verification codes are not arriving
      • Make sure the email/phone used for codes is correct and accessible.
      • If codes are delayed or unrequested, do not respond to codes that were not requested. The account remains safe without those codes.
    4. After regaining access
      • Go to the account’s security settings and, if desired, turn off passwordless sign-in or adjust two-step verification methods so that sign-in with password plus a different second factor (SMS/email) is possible instead of the Authenticator app.

If none of the verification methods work and there is no way to receive any code, account recovery is required using the available recovery links on the sign-in page.
