The system is currently using the generic Microsoft Basic Display Adapter instead of the NVIDIA driver, which causes low performance and limits refresh rate options.

Follow these steps to fix it on Windows 11:

    1. Confirm Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is in use
      1. Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Display adapters.
      3. If Microsoft Basic Display Adapter is listed (instead of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060), the generic driver is active.
    2. Update to the manufacturer (NVIDIA) display driver Microsoft recommends using the manufacturer’s driver instead of Microsoft Basic Display Adapter.
      1. In Device Manager, right-click Microsoft Basic Display Adapter (or your display adapter entry).
      2. Select Update driver.
      3. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software so Windows Update can try to install the correct NVIDIA driver.
      4. If Windows finds and installs a driver, restart the PC.
If Windows Update does not find a driver, follow the guidance in Update drivers manually in Windows (linked in the context):
      • Download the latest Windows 11 driver for RTX 3060 from the GPU manufacturer’s website.
      • Then in Device ManagerDisplay adapters → right-click the adapter → Update driverBrowse my computer for drivers and point it to the folder where the driver was downloaded.
    3. Verify the correct adapter is now used
      1. Press Windows + R, type dxdiag.exe, select OK.
      2. In DirectX Diagnostic Tool, go to the Display tab.
      3. Under Device → Name, confirm it shows the NVIDIA RTX 3060 (not Microsoft Basic Display Adapter).
    4. Restore 240 Hz refresh rate
      1. Right-click the desktop and select Display settings.
      2. Scroll to Advanced display.
      3. Under Choose a refresh rate, select 240 Hz for the MSI monitor.

    If:

    • The hardware manufacturer does not provide Windows drivers for the adapter, and
    • Windows Update has no drivers,

then the only options are to keep using Microsoft Basic Display Adapter or upgrade to a video card that has Windows display adapter drivers. In this case, RTX 3060 does have drivers, so installing the correct NVIDIA driver should restore performance and refresh rate.

    Hi,

It's likely that the I-GPU driver was activated because you installed the D-GPU.

Access the device manager, take a screenshot, and post it here.

What is the model of your motherboard?

    Thanks
