The compute cluster was working after I upgraded to pay-plan but stopped working after 5 days even though my free subscription is valid for another 20 days.
The message means the Azure subscription used by the Azure Databricks workspace has run out of free or promotional credits. Until the subscription is upgraded and a valid payment method is added, new or existing Databricks clusters cannot be started.
To restore the ability to run Databricks clusters, upgrade the Azure free account subscription and add a payment method:
After the subscription is upgraded and a payment method is configured, go back to Azure Databricks and start the compute cluster again. Any remaining free credit is still usable until the original 30‑day period ends, and eligible free services remain available for 12 months after the upgrade.
