A cloud-based identity and access management service for securing user authentication and resource access
Error code AADSTS5000224 indicates that the tenant is blocked due to inactivity and is currently inaccessible. When a tenant is in this state, sign-in attempts fail and access to resources tied to that tenant (including Visual Studio subscriptions such as VS Enterprise dev/test benefits) is blocked.
For a blocked tenant due to inactivity:
- Tenant administrators can request reactivation within 20 days of the tenant entering the inactive state. After 20 days, the tenant is deleted and cannot be recovered.
- To request reactivation, a tenant administrator must contact Microsoft using the global support phone numbers listed in the documentation.
- While the tenant is inactive, authentication requests to that tenant should be minimized until a decision is made on the reactivation request.
If the tenant is reactivated within the allowed window, access to services and subscriptions associated with that tenant (including Visual Studio Enterprise dev/test benefits) can be restored and managed again. If the tenant has already been deleted after the inactivity period, it cannot be recovered and the associated resources are not accessible.
