    Open the Settings App.

    1

    Go to Personalization - Colors.

Set 'Choose your Mode to Custom.

You can then set Windows Mode and App Mode to Light or Dark.

    2

In the Settings App, go to Accessibility - Contrast Themes.

If any Contrast Theme is set, disable that, set it to None.

    3

Finally if you need to, go to Personalization - Themes, and set that to the Windows Default Themes.

To turn off dark mode in Windows 11 and go back to light mode:

    1. Open Settings (press Windows logo key + I or select Start > Settings).
    2. Select Personalization > Colors.
    3. Under Choose your mode, select Light.

If only Windows elements (like Taskbar and Start menu) are dark and apps are light or vice versa, set Choose your mode to Custom and then:

    • Under Choose your default Windows mode, select Light.
    • Under Choose your default app mode, select Light.

This will turn off dark mode across Windows.
