I am trying to move off of zoom to teams for people outside my organization. They generally will use their phones for access to teams. They do not want to have to download the application. When I try to do this, it requires them to download the teams app for both Android and Apple there is no opton to ignore and select the URL, how to I enable them to access the link via the web without having to download the application?

    Dear @Stephanie A,

    I hope you’re having a good day.

Thank you for your detailed description. I understand that you’re trying to allow external participants to join a Teams meeting from their phones directly through the browser, without being forced to install the app.

Based on my understanding and testing of your scenario, the behavior you’re seeing is expected with Microsoft Teams today. On mobile devices (both Android and iOS), when users open a meeting link, they are redirected to the “Get Teams” page and there is no option to continue in the browser. This is because Teams on the web is not supported on mobile browsers, so the system directs users to the mobile app instead.

I have also tested this behavior myself using a mobile device and can confirm that there is currently no option to access a Teams meeting directly via the phone browser, and no configuration setting available to change this behavior.

Please understand that, as a moderator, I don’t have the ability to change product design or enable additional options at the tenant or policy level. My role here is to share accurate information based on current product behavior and help guide you with the most suitable options available. I’ll do my best to support you within that scope.

In practice, if external participants need to join a Teams meeting from a mobile device, the reliable approach is to have them join using the Teams app (they can still join as a guest without creating an account). If installing the app is something they want to avoid, the only alternative that consistently works today is joining from a desktop or laptop browser, where the “join on the web” option is available.

I do agree with you that having a more flexible mobile browser experience would make this much easier, especially for external users. If this is important for your use case, I’d recommend submitting feedback so it can be reviewed by the Microsoft product team. You can do this through the Teams app (Help > Give feedback)

or via the Microsoft Feedback Portal, which helps prioritize feature improvements based on customer input.

Thanks again for raising this, it’s a very valid scenario.

    Warm regards,
