Cleanmgr and Security Patch Corruption in Windows 11

Hello!

I'm using Windows 11 Home, version 26200.8457, which is the newest stable version.

I installed Windows 11 just two days ago.

**
The following have also been done:**

Dism /Online /cleanup-image /scanhealth -> Component store is healthy

Sfc /verifyonly -> Component store is healthy.

The error I'm seeing is this:

For the past two days, no security updates have appeared on the Windows Update page. Normally, 2-3 small security patches arrive daily, but they haven't appeared on my system.

**
Also, when Cleanmgr (administrator) is run, the Windows Update option doesn't appear.**

What could be the reason for this?

Hi User, Welcome in Community

Everything you are describing is completely normal for a freshly installed Windows 11 system on that specific build. Because you clean-installed only two days ago, the operating system's update and cleanup mechanisms are behaving exactly as they should on a pristine setup.

Why you aren't seeing daily security updates

Microsoft operates on a monthly "Patch Tuesday" cycles, releasing cumulative security updates on the second Tuesday of each month. Windows Defender does pull daily definition updates, but these typically install silently in the background without needing a reboot or showing up on the main update screen.

Since you are already on Build 26200.8457 (the May 2026 Security Update), your two-day-old installation is fully patched to the latest available baseline. There simply are no newer security updates to pull at the moment.

Why "Windows Update Cleanup" is missing from Cleanmgr

The Windows Update Cleanup option only appears in Disk Cleanup when the system detects superseded, obsolete update packages sitting in your Component Store (C:\Windows\WinSxS).

Because your installation is brand new, there are no older file versions to purge. Your successful Sfc and Dism health checks confirm that your system files are optimized, meaning Cleanmgr hides the category because there are 0 bytes of old updates to clean. The option will reappear automatically after you install your first major cumulative update next month. Let me know if you have more doubt

Updates are carried out during a clean install and if you have installed the latest available version/build there is nothing else to update.

June will be the next Microsoft update. With the exception of drivers after a clean install there isn't anything else to update. Drivers should come from the manufacturer of the hardware either individual parts or all if the device is a branded manufacturer. (HP, Dell etc.)

As previously stated security and cumulative updates are once per month.
