The documentation says that the feature is supported, but I couldn't get it working. Always receiving response that the feature is not supported.

I understand that the documentation mentions $jsonSchema support, but you are getting a “feature not supported” error when trying to use it.
This issue usually happens due to API and feature limitations in Azure Cosmos DB (DocumentDB).
In the SQL API (formerly known as DocumentDB):
$jsonSchema is supported only as a query operator
$jsonSchema, you will get this error- must be created using MongoDB tools (mongosh / driver)
- not supported via Azure CLI or ARM in all cases
Based on your setup, please follow the appropriate approach:
SQL API (DocumentDB)
$jsonSchema inside queries onlyMongoDB API (vCore cluster)
Use native MongoDB client tools:

The “feature not supported” error occurs because collection-level JSON Schema validation is not available in SQL API and RU-based MongoDB API, and is only supported in specific scenarios like MongoDB vCore clusters.
Although $jsonSchema appears in the documentation, its usage is limited based on API type and deployment model.
To resolve the issue, confirm your API and use the supported validation method for that environment.

I think Cosmos DB SQL API does not offer $jsonSchema as a collection validator, and the “feature not supported” message matches the public spec.

Please see the documentation here, it clearly states that collection validator is supported. If it doesn't work, it is likely a bug somewhere.
