Hi, In which Software does Save As not work - Word or Microsoft Edge?

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

If Save and Save As for PDF files suddenly stopped working, the most likely cause is that a virtual printer (such as “Microsoft Print to PDF” or “XPS Document Writer”) has become the default printer, so Windows and apps are trying to “print to a file” instead of saving normally.

    Try these steps:

    1. Open the classic Control Panel (select Start, type Control, press Enter).
    2. Set “View by” to Icons, then select Devices and Printers.
    3. Under Printers, check which device has the green check mark (default printer).
    4. If the default is Microsoft Print to PDF, Microsoft XPS Document Writer, or another virtual printer, right‑click the actual physical printer and choose Set as default printer.
    5. If the physical printer is already default, right‑click it, choose Printer properties, and go to the Ports tab:
      • If the port is set to Print to File, change it to LPT1 (for USB‑connected printers) or a WSD/network port (for wireless/network printers), then select OK.
    6. Close all apps, reopen the app used to work with PDFs, and try Save or Save As again.

If the problem persists only with Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.) when saving as PDF, verify that saving to a local folder (like Documents) works and that no third‑party PDF add‑ins (such as Adobe PDFMaker) are interfering. Removing or disabling problematic add‑ins can restore normal Save/Save As behavior.
