    Hello lukas marsh,

I'm happy to help take a look, but the fix really depends on which Minecraft you've got, since "subscription" can mean a few different things here. Could you confirm which of these matches your setup:

    • Minecraft: Java or Bedrock Edition (one-time purchase, not actually a subscription)
    • Minecraft Realms (monthly sub for your own private server)
    • Xbox Game Pass / PC Game Pass, which includes Minecraft as part of the library

Also helpful to know the exact screen or message you're seeing when it asks you to pay — is it inside the Minecraft Launcher, on the Microsoft Store page, or in-game when trying to join a Realm?

In the meantime, the most reliable place to check what's actually active on your account is https://account.microsoft.com/services — sign in there with the same Microsoft account you use for Minecraft and you'll see every active sub and its status.

Once you can share which Minecraft it is and what the payment prompt looks like, I can point you to the exact next step.

Follow these steps to get Minecraft access working again and avoid being charged unexpectedly:

    1. Confirm which subscription is active
      • Go to the Services page while signed in with the account used to play Minecraft.
      • Check if there is an active Minecraft-related subscription (for example via Game Pass or Realms) and verify its status and end date.
      • If the subscription shows as expired or past due, Minecraft will stop working and will ask for payment.
    2. Check for past-due or blocked payments
      • If the subscription is past due, follow the guidance in Pay for a past-due Microsoft subscription to clear the balance so the subscription can resume.
      • If payment keeps failing, use the steps in Troubleshoot buying issues with Microsoft Store:
        • Go to Payment options and make sure the credit/debit card is valid and up to date.
        • Make sure there are no overdue subscription payments on the Services page.
        • Check that security software is not blocking payment pop‑ups.
    3. If it says there is a subscription but still asks to pay
      • It is possible that:
        • The subscription is on a different Microsoft account than the one signed in to Minecraft.
        • The subscription was cancelled too close to the billing date and is now at or near its end date.
      • Sign out of Minecraft and the Microsoft Store, then sign back in using the same Microsoft account that shows the active subscription on the Services page.
    4. Investigate unexpected or duplicate charges
      • If charges appear that are not recognized, go to the Manage your payments page and select Investigate next to the charge. This uses the flow described in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.
      • If it looks like there are double payments, follow I’ve been charged twice to compare bank statements with the Microsoft order history and confirm whether there are actual duplicate charges.
    5. If the subscription is not needed anymore
      • Once access is restored and the situation is clear, recurring billing can be turned off or the subscription cancelled using the links in Pay for a past-due Microsoft subscription (for example, Cancel or turn off recurring billing for a Microsoft subscription).

If, after checking the correct account, subscription status, and payments, Minecraft still refuses access while showing an active subscription, contact Microsoft Support directly from the account dashboard so they can review the subscription and billing on the account.
