Microsoft Defender VPN or Web Protection should not normally block most apps. Which apps are being blocked? Banking apps, social media, games, or all apps? Do you see any specific error message from Defender or the iPhone?
In the meantime, if you haven’t already already:
On the iPhone, go to:
- Settings > VPN
- Then temporarily disconnect the Microsoft Defender VPN and test the apps again.
If the apps open normally after that, the issue is likely related to web Protection filtering, DNS filtering, Or a VPN conflict with the apps or network
Also check if: Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, if it shows multiple VPNs installed, since another VPN or security app can conflict with Defender.
