I want to change my subscription from family to single. How can I do that.?

To change from Microsoft 365 Family to Microsoft 365 Personal (single user), use one of these approaches depending on how the subscription is billed.

Option 1: Switch plan in Services & subscriptions

1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the same Microsoft account used for the Family subscription.
2. Find the Microsoft 365 Family subscription and select Manage.
3. If available, select Change or Switch plan and choose Microsoft 365 Personal.
4. Confirm the change and follow the prompts. All users will be moved off the Family sharing benefits because Personal cannot be shared.

Option 2: Cancel Family, then purchase Personal

If there is no direct switch option:

1. Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and select Manage for Microsoft 365 Family.
2. Select Cancel subscription or turn off recurring billing so Family will end at expiry.
3. After cancelling (or when Family expires), purchase Microsoft 365 Personal using the same Microsoft account.

Key behavior when switching:

• Microsoft 365 Personal is for one user only; sharing is not available.
• Installing and signing in: Personal allows installation on all devices, with up to five devices signed in at the same time.
• Remaining subscription time can be extended when adding a new Microsoft 365 for home subscription to the same account; remaining time from the old plan is added to the new one, subject to the 5‑year maximum.
• OneDrive storage per user (1 TB) does not change, but the number of users with storage decreases when moving from Family to Personal.

If the switch is made by redeeming a Microsoft 365 Personal product key on an account that currently has Family, there will be a prompt to either stay on Family or convert to Personal; after choosing Personal, the subscription benefits update accordingly.
