A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
LinkedIn uses its own sign-in system, but when it asks for a PIN or code from Microsoft Authenticator, it is typically expecting a time-based one-time password (OTP) from the LinkedIn account entry in the app.
If no PIN/code is visible for the LinkedIn account in Microsoft Authenticator, use these steps:
- Open Microsoft Authenticator and tap the LinkedIn account entry.
- Check whether a line like “One-time password code” or a 6‑digit code is shown. If it is, use that code on LinkedIn.
- If there is no OTP code at all for LinkedIn, the account may not be configured as an OTP account in Authenticator. In that case, use LinkedIn’s own account recovery options (such as email/SMS verification or LinkedIn support) to regain access and then reconfigure Microsoft Authenticator for LinkedIn from LinkedIn’s security settings.
- Ensure the Microsoft Authenticator app is updated to the latest version and that the device date and time are set correctly, as incorrect time or an outdated app can prevent codes and sign-ins from working properly.
If the problem persists and there is no OTP visible for LinkedIn in the app, the only supported path is to complete LinkedIn’s recovery process and then set up the Authenticator entry again from LinkedIn.
