Microsoft Word 16.54 on macOS.

Microsoft states; "On older Macs that are stuck on Monterey, Office can be updated up to the last supported build for Monterey (for example, 16.88/16.88.1 as noted in the Q&A). That build will continue to work, but after July 13, 2026, it must still meet the minimum version requirement (16.83 or later, which it does)."

If the current version of Microsoft Word is listed as 16.54 after a user (myself) has just upgraded to Monterey 12.7.6 in order to still use Word on their Macbook Pro will Word cease to edit and save after 13th July 2026? It says "for example" but it does not specify exactly if the 16.54 version of Word is sufficient enough to run after someone has upgraded their laptop. Could you clarify this point please? And yes, I am subscribed to Microsoft Office 365 for Mac (renew date 22nd Dec 2026) Thank you.

Hi,

In your case, if your 365 version is below version 16.88, then yes, Office will stop working on your Monterey Mac 12.7.6 after July 13, 2026.

You would have to update to version: https://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/C1297A47-86C4-4C1F-97FA-950631F94777/MacAutoupdate/Microsoft_365_and_Office_16.89.24091630_Installer.pkg

Since it's 12.7.6, you can use version 16.89, which is compatible with your Mac version and this problem will not occur.
