Authentication Error on new Android tablet

I have a new Samsung Galaxy Tab S11 on which I have installed Outlook from the Google Play store.

When I open Outlook I get the screen asking if I wish to add or create an account.

I select Add an Account ( I use Outlook on a desktop and 3 other android devices) and "continue"

I'm not taken to another screen (although it looks like Outlook has looked at a couple of other screen without displaying them if that makes sense)

I immediately get taken back to the Add or Create screen with a pop up message saying:

    Authentication or initialization failed. Click Reload to try again.

I've tried uninstalling and installing again.

I've tried deleting Cache and Data

Nothing seems to work and I've run out of ideas.
