Help with Windows Fonts

Question

Hello everyone,

I need help fixing my Windows 10 Fonts.

I just found newer versions of my existing fonts with the same names and just selected them all, and clicked "Install for all users..."

When asked for replace, I thought it's like normal Windows File System and confirmed.

Now, I found that it made my Fonts folder larger by duplicating them, not overwriting, although they had the same font name/familiy.

So many fonts now are:

arialbd.ttf

and

arialbd_0.ttf

arialbd.ttf is original older version and arialbd_0.ttf is the new one!

I did some tweaks to fix it but they caused my Windows to end up corrupted and had to restore my backup image.

Please tell me how to fix the mess by removing original old ones (arialbd.ttf) and rename the new versions to the original file name (arialbd_0.ttf > arialbd_0.ttf)?
