A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
The lines are present but not visible on screen because of how Word displays certain characters and line spacing; this is a display-only issue, not a printing problem.
Underscore and similar characters can appear missing or cut off on screen when:
- Line spacing is set to Exactly and the value is equal to or less than the font size (for example, Exactly 9 pt with 10 pt Times New Roman). In that case, underscores or characters at the very top/bottom of the line may not show, even though they print correctly.
- The current zoom level or printer driver causes Word’s screen font rendering to clip the bottom of the line.
To make the signature lines visible again:
- Select the affected paragraph(s).
- Go to Home → Paragraph → Line and Paragraph Spacing → Line Spacing Options.
- Set Line spacing to Single (or at least a value larger than the font size, not “Exactly” smaller than the font).
- Adjust the zoom (for example, to 100%) and check again.
- If the issue persists, try switching to a different printer driver and recheck the display.
The lines will continue to print correctly; these steps are only to improve on‑screen visibility.
