You will have to provide some more details for anyone to diagnose the issue.

In the subject line, you mention macros. Does that mean that you are trying to add data from an Excel range into a Word document, using VBA?

Or maybe you are referring to an embedded Excel sheet in a Word document?

Follow these steps to allow the embedded Excel sheet (object) in the Word document to work if it was downloaded from email or the internet and is being blocked:

    1. Close Word.
    2. In File Explorer, locate the Word document that contains the Excel sheet.
    3. Right‑click the file and select Properties.
    4. On the General tab, if there is a Security section with an Unblock checkbox, select Unblock.
    5. Click Apply and OK.
    6. Reopen the Word document and try to activate/fill the Excel sheet again (usually by double‑clicking the embedded sheet).

If the document is stored on OneDrive/SharePoint and was opened in the desktop app:

    1. Download the document to the local computer.
    2. Repeat steps 2–5 above on the downloaded copy to remove the “Mark of the Web” so macros/embedded content can run.

If the embedded Excel requires macros and they are still disabled after unblocking the file, ensure macros are allowed:

    1. Open Word.
    2. Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Macro Settings.
    3. Use Disable all macros with notification so Word will prompt to enable macros when opening the file.
    4. Reopen the document and choose to enable content if prompted.

Only unblock and enable macros if the document is from a trusted source.
