"We had a problem processing your payment"

Question

I accidentally typed in the wrong CVV code when trying to gift Minecraft. Now that I found the real code, the site doesn't let me try again and just show an error message. How do I fix this?

This is Tin, sorry to hear that you're unable to use your card due to accidentally entered incorrect CVV. Have you tried to use other browser and check if the issue persists? Or how about clearing cache and cookies? To do that, please press CTRL +SHIFT +DEL then choose the Cache also Cookies, then hit Clear Now. If the issue persists, please try to use other device. Ensure that your MS Account has been signed in

Type "Chat with an agent" and hit Enter.

Please click the "Contact support"

The wrong CVV caused the card authorization to fail, so the purchase flow is now blocking further attempts with that same failed state. To fix this, update or re-enter the payment method and then try the purchase again.

Use these steps:

1. Verify and update the card details
   1. Go to the Payment options page: https://account.microsoft.com/billing/payments
   2. Find the card used for the Minecraft gift.
   3. Select View or edit card and make sure:
      • CVV is correct.
      • Name and billing address exactly match what the bank has on file.
      • Expiration date is correct and the card is not expired.
   4. Select Save.
2. Retry the purchase
   • Return to the Microsoft Store / Minecraft gifting page and try the purchase again using the updated card.
   • If the card is still declined, check:
     • That the card is active and not blocked by the bank.
     • That the card is allowed for online and (if applicable) international transactions.
3. If the error persists
   • Try a different payment method (another card or PayPal, if available and properly funded/confirmed).
   • If the card continues to be declined, contact the bank or card issuer to confirm there are no holds or fraud blocks on the transaction.

If the Store itself shows an “Unable to complete this transaction” message, ensure Microsoft Store is updated to the latest version and that Windows is up to date, then retry the purchase.
