I tried to download and install Windows 11, version 25H2 on my PC yesterday and last night but there was an error code after installation. I've started my PC this morning and it says "Downloading-0%" and doesn't seem to be progressing. Please can you help me install this Update ?

Many thanks and regards

    Hi, good day!

Have you tried the AI-suggested solutions?

Please try performing an In-place Upgrade. It will definitely help in resolving update errors. Performing this can repair broken operating system files while your personal files, settings and installed applications will not be removed.

Few things to check on the PC

    • Unplug all external peripherals except for the Mouse, Keyboard, and LAN cable before starting
    • Disable or uninstall any third-party Antivirus program to prevent it from interfering with the upgrade

Try the following steps in order to get Windows 11, version 25H2 installed and clear the stuck “Downloading – 0%” state:

    1. Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      2. Under Most frequent, find Windows Update and select Run.
      3. When it finishes, restart the PC.
      4. Go to Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates and see if Windows 11, version 25H2 starts downloading and installing correctly.
    2. Apply general upgrade/installation fixes If the update still fails or gets stuck:
      1. Disconnect nonessential external devices (USB drives, printers, external hard drives, docking station, etc.).
      2. Make sure Windows is fully updated before trying 25H2: open Settings > Windows Update and install all other important updates first.
      3. Temporarily uninstall any non‑Microsoft antivirus from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, then try the update again. It can be reinstalled afterward.
      4. Uninstall old or nonessential software from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features in case an outdated app is blocking the upgrade.
    3. If a specific error code appears again After retrying, note the exact error code shown (for example, 0x8007001F, 0x80246007, 0x80070422, etc.). Different codes have different fixes, such as:
      • For download or file‑corruption errors (like 0x80246007 or 0x8024000B): delete temporary update files, restart the Windows Update service, and rerun the Windows Update Troubleshooter.
      • For device/driver issues (like 0x8007001F): disconnect external devices, ensure all drivers are up to date, and try upgrading again (Safe Mode can help in some cases).

If the update still fails after these steps, rerun the Windows Update Troubleshooter and then try the update again, and capture the new error code for more targeted troubleshooting.
