This issue is fairly common on Dell notebooks and usually comes down to BIOS or driver settings rather than the sensor itself. Even if Device Manager shows the reader, Windows Hello won’t let you enroll if the fingerprint option is disabled in BIOS. Go into BIOS (F2 at boot), check under Security > Integrated Devices that the fingerprint reader is enabled, then update both BIOS and fingerprint drivers from Dell’s support site. If it’s still not working, remove your Windows Hello PIN and set it up again before trying fingerprint enrollment. On company-managed devices, keep in mind that IT policies can block fingerprint sign‑in even if the hardware is present.
