Using New Outlook on Windows for professional communication and productivity
Dear @Katie Halpin,
I hope you’re having a good day.
Based on the screenshot you shared, the email is a legitimate notification from Microsoft Intune indicating that your device has been classified as “non-compliant” with your organization’s security policies. This means your device is currently enrolled and managed by your company, but it is no longer meeting one or more requirements defined by your IT administrator.
This situation is commonly tied to how organizations enforce security through Intune in combination with Conditional Access. When a device falls out of compliance, access to corporate resources such as Outlook, Teams, or SharePoint can be restricted until the issue is resolved. So, the message you received is essentially a preventive security alert rather than a system error.
To resolve this, the key step is to check the exact compliance failure reason, which is not shown in the email itself. You can view this detail directly in the Company Portal app on your device. Once you open Company Portal and select your device, it should display the specific rule that is not being met. That detail is important, because the required action will depend entirely on what the policy is flagging.
For example, if the issue is related to system updates, installing the latest Windows updates usually resolves it. If it is related to encryption or antivirus status, enabling those features and ensuring they are active should bring the device back into compliance. After making the necessary changes, syncing the device in Company Portal allows Intune to re-evaluate the status.
If you are unable to identify the reason in Company Portal, or if the device remains non-compliant even after taking corrective actions, then this becomes something that only your organization’s IT administrators can adjust. Compliance policies are centrally controlled, so in such cases the IT Service Desk shown in the email would need to review your device status or confirm whether any policy exceptions apply.
If you’re unsure who your administrator is, this article may help: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin?
Overall, the issue is not caused by your Microsoft account or the email system itself, but by your organization’s security configuration. Once the underlying requirement is addressed, the device should automatically return to a compliant state and regain normal access.
I hope this information helps point you in the right direction. If you run into any issues while trying the steps, or if something still doesn’t feel quite right, please don’t hesitate to reach out again. I’ll do my best to support you however I can.
Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.
Warm regards,
