How do I change my download location for email attachments

Hi Lila,

In the new Outlook for Windows, there is currently no separate setting to choose a default download folder for email attachments. Attachments normally use your Windows default Downloads location.

You can change the Windows Downloads folder by opening File Explorer > right-click Downloads > Properties > Location > Move, then select the folder you prefer.

You can also use Save As when downloading an attachment if you want to choose a different location each time.

In new Outlook for Windows, the default download location for attachments is controlled by Windows and the app uses the last folder used when saving.

To change where attachments are saved:

1. In a message, select the attachment’s dropdown arrow.
2. Choose Download.
3. In the file dialog, browse to and select the folder where the attachment should be saved, then select Save.
4. Next time Download is used, Outlook will default to this last-used folder.

There is no separate setting in new Outlook to globally change the default attachment download folder; it always defaults to the last folder chosen when saving.
