Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Could you share a bit more background, for example, was your account recently hacked/compromised or inactive for a long period?

In the meantime, please check your "Deleted Items" and "Archive" folders, sometimes older messages are automatically moved there. You can also try searching for a specific old email to see if it still appears.

If the issue persists, please provide more details by answering my questions.

In Outlook.com or Outlook on the web, previous emails are usually in one of these places or have been automatically removed after a time period.

    1. Check Focused/Other tabs
    • If Focused Inbox is on, some messages may be on the Other tab instead of Focused.
    • Open the Other tab and look for the missing messages. If found, select the message and choose Move to > Move to Focused inbox so future messages from that sender go to Focused.
    1. Check Deleted Items
    • Open the Deleted Items folder.
    • If the message is there, select it and choose Restore (or Move > Inbox on the ribbon) to put it back.
    • Note: Email is automatically deleted from Deleted Items after 30 days.
    1. Recover items removed from Deleted Items If the email is not in Deleted Items:
    • In Deleted Items, above the message list, select Recover items deleted from this folder.
    • In the Recoverable Items list, select the message(s) and choose Restore.
    • Restored items go back to their original folder when possible; if that folder no longer exists, messages go to Inbox.
    • Notes:
      • Messages removed from Deleted Items are only recoverable for 30 days.
      • Recovery from the Recoverable Items folder must be done on a PC or Mac browser, not a mobile browser or mobile app.
    1. Check Junk Email
    • Open the Junk Email folder.
    • If the message is there, select it and choose Report > Not junk or Move > Inbox.
    • Junk email is kept for 30 days before being permanently deleted.
    1. If messages are still missing
    • If the email is not in Inbox, Other, Deleted Items, Recover items deleted from this folder, or Junk Email, it has likely been permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.
    • Messages deleted from a child’s account cannot be recovered.
