Office 365 Outlook has the browser set to default browser which is Chrome but it still uses edge. How is this fixed?

    Hi,

Please go to File > Settings >Advanced. You can toggle it temporarily and then back to default browser and see if that helps.

Additionally, Take a screenshot of this setting and post in the next reply.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

Outlook on Windows can now be configured to open web links specifically in Microsoft Edge, independently of the Windows default browser. To make Outlook use Chrome (the Windows default) instead of Edge, change the Outlook/Teams link-opening setting or the organization policy, depending on who controls it.

For a home user in classic Outlook for Windows:

    1. Open Outlook (classic).
    2. Go to File > Options.
    3. Select Advanced.
    4. Under File and browser preferences, find Open hyperlinks from Outlook in.
    5. Choose Default browser (or explicitly select Chrome if available), then select OK.

If using the new Outlook for Windows:

    1. Select Settings (gear icon).
    2. Go to General > Files and links.
    3. Under Open hyperlinks from Outlook in, choose Default browser instead of Microsoft Edge.

If Outlook still forces Edge, an admin policy may be set:

    1. In organizations, admins can configure the Choose Which Browser Opens Web Links policy.
    2. To honor the Windows default browser (Chrome), this policy must be Enabled and set to System default browser.
    3. If the policy is Disabled or Not configured, links default to Edge, but users can override it in Outlook/Teams settings as above (unless the admin explicitly enforced Edge).

This behavior only affects links opened from Outlook and Teams; it does not change the Windows default browser itself.
