    Hello Manny,

Thank you for reaching out Q/A

I understand that your password expired over the weekend and that you are currently unable to sign in to Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) while working remotely.

Based on the information provided, this appears to be an authentication issue related to the expired password rather than an Azure Virtual Desktop service issue.

To regain access, please complete the following steps:

    1. Reset your password using your organization's password reset process.
      1. After resetting the password, verify that you can successfully sign in to Microsoft 365 using the same account:
        1. Sign out completely from the Azure Virtual Desktop client (Windows App, Remote Desktop client, or Web Client).
        2. Close and reopen the client, then sign in using your updated credentials.
        3. If your organization uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), complete any required verification prompts during sign-in.
    2. If you are using the desktop client, try connecting through the Azure Virtual Desktop Web Client to ensure cached credentials are not causing the issue:

If you are unable to reset your password yourself, please contact your organization's IT Helpdesk or Administrator and request a password reset. Once the password has been successfully reset and synchronized, you should be able to sign in to Azure Virtual Desktop again.

    Hi @Manuel Ramos

if Entra Id Self Service Password Reset is enabled/configured you can request a password reset:

    Enable self-service password reset

    Test self-service password reset

If the Entra Id Self Service Password Reset an organization admin for Entra Id has to reset the password manually.

    To reset a password

Because the password expired, the account password must be reset or changed before sign-in to Azure Virtual Desktop will work again.

    Action steps:

    1. If self-service password reset is enabled for the account:
      • Use the organization’s password reset page or the “Can’t access your account?” / “Forgot my password” option on the sign-in page to reset the password.
      • After resetting, try signing in to AVD again with the new password.
    2. If self-service reset is not enabled or the reset fails:
      • Contact the organization’s Active Directory / Azure AD administrator and request a password reset and, if necessary, an account unlock.
      • Explain that the password expired and remote sign-in to Azure Virtual Desktop is now blocked.
    3. If the environment uses Remote Desktop Web Access for AVD and password reset on the web portal is enabled:
      • Browse to the RD Web/AVD web portal.
      • When the “password expired” message appears, use the provided “change/reset password” link.
      • Enter the old (expired) password, then the new password twice, following the domain password policy (length, complexity, history).

If no reset option is visible in the portal and the old password is not accepted, only the administrator can reset the password remotely.
