If it is expiring tomorrow, make sure you turn off auto renewal. Then you will have to subscribe to personal plan after that to switch. Just make sure you sign up with the same account so you don't have to worry about files transfer.

Yes. The Microsoft account can have only one active Microsoft 365 subscription, but a new product key can be used before the current Family subscription expires.

When a new Microsoft 365 subscription is added to an account that already has a Microsoft 365 subscription:

    • If it is the same type (e.g., Family → Family), the remaining time is added to extend the subscription (up to a 5‑year maximum).
    • If it is a different type (e.g., Family → Personal), applying the new product key will offer a choice:
      • Stay on Microsoft 365 Family and receive a prorated amount of time based on the Personal key value, or
      • Switch to Microsoft 365 Personal, in which case the subscription benefits change to Personal.

So the 365 Personal product key can be redeemed today; it will either extend the existing benefits (if you choose to stay on Family with adjusted time) or switch the account to Personal immediately, rather than waiting for the Family subscription to expire.
