    Hello Mr._. Moses

Please kindly note that this is a public user-to-user forum, I do not have the ability, tools to unblock, recover accounts or bypass security. Only Microsoft’s official recovery process can restore access.

From your post, I understand how concerning this situation is, especially since the account is important and you’re being blocked from signing in.

Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, before moving further, could you confirm:

    • Are you using a personal Outlook.com/Hotmail account, not a work or school account?
    • Have you already tried the steps suggested by Q&A Assist (especially waiting 24 hours without retrying)?

Since you are not receiving any verification codes, the most effective path is to use the official account recovery process:

    • Go to: https://account.live.com/acsr
    • Enter your locked out email and an alternate email where Microsoft can contact you.
    • Provide as many accurate details as possible, such as old passwords, frequent contacts/subject lines and submit from a familiar device/location.
    • Wait 24–72 hours for a response. You may refine and resubmit up to twice per day.
    • Please see this official guide to help you fill out the form more accurately: Help with the Microsoft account recovery form - Microsoft Support

This method does not rely on receiving SMS/email codes, so it is the best option when verification fails.

    Additional notes:

    • Avoid repeated sign‑in or code requests for now, as this can extend the temporary security lock
    • The error code you mentioned usually indicates a temporary protection state, not a permanent issue
    • If your recovery request is approved, you will regain access without needing the blocked verification method

Feel free to share any updates at your convenience. Thank you for your time and understanding.

Follow these steps to resolve the sign-in and verification code issue and secure the account:

    1. Check for unusual activity and confirm it was you
      • Go to the Security basics page and sign in if possible.
      • Select Review activity to open the Recent activity page.
      • Look for sign-ins marked as Unusual activity. If the activity is yours, confirm it; if not, select This wasn't me or Secure your account so Microsoft can help lock out attackers.
    2. Verify and correct security info (email/phone)
      • On the security verification screen, carefully confirm that the hint for the backup email/phone actually belongs to the account (correct domain like .com vs .co.uk, correct spelling of the name).
      • If the phone/email shown is not recognized or is no longer accessible, select I don't have any of these and follow the prompts to replace the security info. Be aware that:
        • Removing all previous security info and replacing it can put the account into a restricted state for up to 30 days while Microsoft protects it.
    3. Troubleshoot not receiving verification codes
      • Ensure the verification code email is being sent to the correct mailbox (primary alias or an email added as a way to verify sign-in).
      • Check the junk/spam folder for messages from an @accountprotection.microsoft.com address and mark it as a trusted sender.
      • Avoid repeated or excessive requests for codes; too many attempts can trigger a temporary block where codes are not sent.
      • If using SMS:
        • Make sure the phone is not blocking texts from unknown numbers.
        • Confirm the phone number is entered correctly.
        • If possible, try again later in case of temporary regional SMS issues or heavy traffic.
    4. Handle possible temporary block (error and no codes)
      • The error and lack of codes may indicate a temporary block due to unusual activity or high volume of requests.
      • To clear this:
        • Try another verification method already on the account (for example, alternate email instead of SMS, or vice versa).
        • Try signing in from a different network (switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or use another trusted network).
        • Wait at least 24 hours without repeated attempts. If still blocked, wait longer (up to a week) before trying again, to avoid resetting any time-based lock.
    5. If sign-in still fails
      • Use the sign-in helper described in the “I can't sign in to my Microsoft account” article. It will:
        • Ask for the email or phone being used.
        • Detect known issues and guide through the appropriate recovery or security steps.
    6. After regaining access
      • Immediately change the password from the Security basics page.
      • Review and update security info (backup email, phone, and other verification methods) so codes can be received reliably in the future.
      • Regularly check the Recent activity page to ensure there is no further unusual activity.
