The camera on my laptop is not working it says that it's either blocked or there's a button on the keyboard to push to make the camera work again but I don't know how to do that so I need help getting my camera working

Some laptops have a physical switch to enable the camera:

Method 1: Locate a button on your keyboard featuring a camera symbol, typically on the F1-F12 keys.

Press that key or Fn + the camera logo key to enable the camera and then you can use it again.

Method 2: Please check the camera lens carefully to see if there’s a cover, such as a camera shutter. Slide it to uncover the webcam.

Method 3: Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.

Under the Processes tab, look for any active applications. Right-click each one and select End Task.

Once you have closed the active applications, restart your computer and check if the issue persists.

Method 4: Press the Windows key + X, and choose Device Manager.

Expand Cameras or Imaging Devices

Right-click your camera, and select Uninstall Device.

Ensure to tick "Delete driver software for this device" when prompted.

Restart your PC

Check if the issue is resolved.

Follow these steps in order on the Windows 11 laptop.

1. Check for a physical camera switch or shutter
   • Look around the laptop for any of these and move them to the “open/on” position:
     • A sliding switch on the side of the laptop.
     • A small slider built into the camera area above the screen (moves to uncover the lens).
     • A key on the keyboard with a camera icon, sometimes used with the Fn key (for example, Fn + a function key like F4/F8 that has a camera symbol).
   • If the message says the camera is blocked or turned off by a switch or button, this is the most likely cause.
2. Make sure Windows sees the camera and it works in the Camera app
   • Select Start > Camera.
   • If the preview works here, the camera is fine and any problem is with a specific app’s settings.
3. Run the Windows camera troubleshooter
   • Open the Get Help app and run the camera troubleshooter using this link: Run the troubleshooter in Get Help.
   • Let it complete and apply any fixes it suggests.
4. Check Windows Update and optional driver updates
   • Select Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
   • Then go to Advanced options > Optional updates and install any camera or driver updates.
