I have lost all my personal emails from prior to April 1, 2026. They were not in trash or in any recovery file.

    Hi Jim VandenBerg,

I understand that your personal emails before April 1, 2026 are missing, and you have already checked Trash and the recovery area. The steps shared by the other contributor are good initial checks, so please try them if you have not already done so.

Since you mentioned that the emails are not in Trash or recovery, the next best step is to contact Outlook.com support directly from inside your mailbox. As fellow users on this forum, contributors do not have access to your mailbox storage or server-side recovery tools, so Outlook.com support is the right channel to check whether anything can still be reviewed from the account side.

You can contact Outlook.com support by following these steps:

1, Go to Outlook.com and sign in.

2, Click the Help icon (question mark) in the top right corner.

3, In the Help pane that opens, type a brief description of your issue (e.g., "account management"), then press Enter.

4, Scroll down the page until you see "Still need help?", click Yes.

5, Select "Chat with a support agent in your web browser."

6, Review the description of your issue and confirm your email address (ensure it's an email you can access).

7, Click Confirm to create the service request and then start chat to connect with an agent.

8, This screen indicates that your request has been submitted and the system is connecting you to Outlook.com live chat support, which may take a moment to load.

I hope Outlook.com support can review the account-side status and confirm whether those older messages can still be recovered.

    Hi @Jim VandenBerg

If your Outlook inbox is not displaying all received emails, this may occur for several reasons. Please follow the troubleshooting steps below:

    1. Check Mailbox Storage

Sign in to Outlook on the web and navigate to:

    Settings > Account > Storage

If your mailbox is close to its storage limit, free up some space and then check whether the missing emails appear.

    2. Check All Folders and Inbox Rules

    Please review the following folders:

    • Junk Email
    • Archive
    • Other
    • Deleted Items

Also, verify whether any Inbox Rules, Forwarding settings, or Sweep rules are automatically moving, deleting, or forwarding messages:

    Settings > Mail > Rules / Forwarding / Sweep

    3. Disable Focused Inbox

Sometimes emails may be categorized incorrectly.

    Go to:

    Settings > Mail > Layout

Under Focused Inbox, select "Don't sort my messages" to display all emails in a single view, then check whether the missing messages appear.

    4. Search for Specific Emails

Use the Outlook search bar and search for the sender's name, email address, or keywords from the subject line.

For additional guidance, please refer to the following Microsoft support articles:

    Best Regards

    Yucel D.
