Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

If you purchased a Microsoft 365 Family subscription, you can share it with up to 5 other people. Each person will need their own Microsoft account.

Please see "Share your Microsoft 365 subscription" https://support.microsoft.com/accounts-billing/subscriptions/share-your-microsoft-365-subscription

Are you using Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Premium? Also, do you see a Share button on the page, or are you getting an error message?

To share a Microsoft 365 Family subscription with sons and daughter-in-law, first ensure the subscription is Microsoft 365 Family (or Microsoft 365 Premium), as only these can be shared.

Then follow one of these methods:

Method 1: Share from the Microsoft 365 sharing page

    1. Go to the Microsoft 365 Subscriptions sharing page: https://account.microsoft.com/services/office/sharing and sign in with the account that bought the Family subscription.
    2. Select Share or Start sharing.
    3. Choose how to share:
      • Email invite: Enter each person’s email address and select Invite.
      • Create link: Select Create link, then Copy link, and send that link to each person (email, text, etc.).
    4. Each person must open the email or link, select Get started, sign in with (or create) their Microsoft account, then select Join now to join the family group and accept the subscription.
    5. After accepting, they can go to their own account dashboard and select Install Microsoft 365 on all your devices to install Office and use their OneDrive storage.

Method 2: Add them to a Microsoft family group first

    1. Using the organizer account, sign in at https://family.microsoft.com.
    2. Select Add a family member.
    3. Choose Member or Organizer, then select Next.
    4. Enter the person’s email or phone number and select Next to send the invite.
    5. They must accept the invite to join the family group.
    6. Once they are in the family group, Office is automatically shared with them from a Microsoft 365 Family subscription. They can then sign in at https://account.microsoft.com to install the Office apps.

    Notes:

    • Up to five other people can be added (six total including the subscription owner).
    • If someone is already in another family group, they must leave that group before joining this one.
    • AI benefits (such as Copilot in apps) and extended storage are only available to the subscription owner and are not shared.
