Unauthorized charge

Dear Microsoft Team,

I don’t currently have an active subscription, yet at 8:31 a.m. this morning, they tried to charge my card twice. Both times for 3,549 HUF. The charges failed because there were no funds on the card.

Find out why this unauthorized charge occurred; if, for some reason, I do have an active subscription, please cancel it immediately.

The email address I used to register:

******@gmail.com or ******@gmail.com

My subscription expired on September 19, 2025.

I look forward to your urgent response.

regards,

Timea

This forum is just a user to user forum, no-one here has any account access, if you are sure no-one else has access to your banking details, using any Microsoft account you may have, try using the steps they provide on this link to find out what that payment was for.

Then use the steps they provide on this link to cancel whatever that payment was for and get a refund.

If you are still unable to resolve that payment problem, you will need to contact Microsoft Support directly, try using this method to contact their support.

    Go to this link: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

    Select Microsoft 365

    Click 'Get Home Support'.

In the box provided, type billing.

Press Enter, then on the next page, scroll down and click 'Sign in to Contact Support'.

Navigate to Microsoft 365 and Office - Manage my Subscription.

Select the 'Chat with support agent in web browser' option

The most likely cause of the attempted charges is an existing Microsoft subscription with recurring billing enabled, or a previously declined payment that Microsoft is retrying.

Because this involves personal billing data, the exact subscription and account details cannot be checked or changed from here. Use these steps to investigate and stop future attempts:

    1. Investigate the charge
      1. Go to the Manage your payments page of the Microsoft account dashboard: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2246882.
      2. Select Investigate next to the payment method to see which subscription or purchase is generating the charge and which Microsoft account it is tied to.
      3. Follow the guidance in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft to confirm whether this is a recurring subscription, a retried payment, or another type of charge.
    2. Check for any active or expired subscriptions
      1. Sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/services with each of the email addresses that might be associated with the subscription.
      2. Look for any Microsoft 365 or other Microsoft subscriptions that show Recurring billing as On or show an outstanding balance.
      3. If a subscription is present and recurring billing is on, turn off recurring billing and cancel it following the steps in Unable to cancel your Microsoft subscription and How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
    3. If the charge is truly unauthorized
      1. If no matching subscription or order is found on any of the accounts, follow the steps in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft to confirm that the charge is not linked to another family member’s or unknown account using the same card.
      2. If the charge remains unrecognized, contact the bank or card issuer to report the attempted charge as unauthorized and ask them to block future Microsoft charges on that card and, if needed, issue a new card.
    4. Refund and cancellation
      1. If a subscription is found and it was not intended, cancel it first, then check refund eligibility as described in How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
      2. Not all cancellations result in a refund, but the refund tool and guidance on that page will show what is possible for the specific subscription and region.

These steps will identify why the attempted charges occurred, allow cancellation of any active subscription, and help prevent future unauthorized billing.
