    Hello

Can you launch the Sound Recorder app, and test if mic works there?

If it doesn't work there either, hold down Windows + R keys, type in mmsys.cpl and hit enter. Then go to the Recording tab. Do you see the Microphone? If so, please make sure it is not disable (you can right click to enable it). Also make sure it is set as default device. Then double click on the microphone, go to Levels tab, make sure it is not muted.

Go to Windows Settings > Privacy > Microphone, make sure allow apps access is turned on.

Install audio driver from computer manufacturer website. If you need help finding driver, please type msinfo32.exe in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, then share a screenshot of the pop up please.

Use the following steps to restore microphone audio in Teams meetings.

    1. Confirm Teams and device are not muted
    • In the Teams meeting controls, ensure the Mic icon is not crossed out.
    • Check the physical headset or laptop for a hardware mute switch or mic mute key and set it to unmuted.
    1. Select the correct microphone in Windows
    • Open Start > Settings > System > Sound.
    • Under Input, in Choose a device for speaking or recording, select the microphone or headset being used.
    • Speak into the mic and verify that the input level moves under Test your microphone (Windows 10) or use Start test / Play (Windows 11) to confirm sound is detected.
    1. Allow apps (including Teams) to use the microphone
    • Open Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone (Windows 11) or Settings > Privacy > Microphone (Windows 10).
    • Turn on Microphone access.
    • Turn on Let apps access your microphone.
    • Turn on Let desktop apps access your microphone.
    • Ensure Microsoft Teams (work or school) is enabled if listed.
    1. Check Teams device settings
    • In Teams, select Settings and more (⋯) > Settings > Devices.
    • Under Audio settings, choose the correct device in the Microphone dropdown.
    • Select Make a test call and follow the Test Call Bot instructions; confirm the recorded message plays back with audio.
    1. Verify browser permissions if using Teams on the web
    • For Microsoft Edge or Chrome, open browser Settings.
    • Go to Cookies and site permissions (Edge) or Privacy and security > Site settings (Chrome).
    • Select Microphone and ensure:
      • The correct microphone is selected.
      • Sites are allowed to ask to use the microphone.
      • Teams is not blocked from using the microphone.
    1. Run Windows microphone troubleshooting
    • Open Settings > System > Sound.
    • Under Advanced, choose Input devices or All sound devices under Troubleshoot common sound problems.
    • Follow the Recording Audio troubleshooter steps.
    1. Reinstall or update audio drivers if Windows does not detect the mic correctly
    • Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
    • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    • Right-click the audio device, select Uninstall device, and confirm.
    • Restart the computer so Windows reinstalls the driver, then in Device Manager select Scan for hardware changes if needed.
    • Optionally right-click the audio driver and select Update driver.

If the internal mic still does not work but an external headset mic does, the issue may be specific to the device’s internal microphone hardware or OEM driver and may require vendor support.
