hello, when I try to download games such as roblox or steam, i get the same error message saying the side by side configuration is incorrect. ive tried uninstalling or modifying them but nothing happens, also when i try to delete apps or games, they will be deleted but as soon as i restart, they are back like i never uninstalled them. i have 1 more issue, when i try to install games or update apps, my computer will restart, the error message says KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x1E) ive tried multiple internet searches but none of these have worked, and then when i try to hard reset, it will go through the process but then restart and go back to the regular windows but when i try to boot into safe mode it wont let me. How can i fix this??

    Hi dread is washed,

The KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (Stop Code 0x1E) is a blue screen error indicating that a kernel-mode program in Windows encountered an error the system couldn't identify. This is usually caused by faulty device drivers, unstable RAM, incompatible software, or corrupted system files.

Please run these commands on Command Prompt (Run as administrator) to scan and fix your system files:

    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    sfc /scannow

Besides, you may use applications like Memtest or Memtest86 for memory testing. It is recommended to run memory tests in DDOS or standalone environments and run them for at least 3-4 cycles to ensure that memory is fully tested.

Please check to see if your PC is producing any minidump files, I will check those to see if they provide any insight into a potential cause of the system crashes.

Please do not upload a very large Memory.dmp file.

    Open Windows File Explorer.

    Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump

Copy any minidump files onto your Desktop, then zip those up.

Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive... etc.), then choose to share those and get a share link.

Then post the link here to the zip file, so I can take a look for you.

The issues described indicate deep system corruption that normal app reinstall or simple troubleshooting will not fix. The supported guidance in this situation is to move quickly to system-level recovery rather than continue app-by-app fixes.

Follow these steps in order, focusing on preserving personal files where possible:

    1. Try Safe Mode and delete problematic apps/folders
      • Boot into Safe Mode using Windows Startup Settings.
      • In Safe Mode, remove problematic apps or folders (such as games that keep reappearing) and restart normally.
      • For detailed Safe Mode steps, use Windows Startup Settings as described in the referenced thread.
    2. Run built-in troubleshooters
      • Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      • Run troubleshooters for Windows Update, apps, and other affected components.
    3. Reset the PC while keeping personal files
      • Open Settings > System > Recovery.
      • Under “Recovery options,” select Reset this PC.
      • Choose “Keep my files” so documents and personal data are preserved while apps and settings are removed.
      • Select Cloud download (recommended) or Local reinstall, then let the process complete.
    4. If reset with “Keep my files” fails or problems persist
      • Perform a full factory reset / full reinstall of Windows from the same Reset this PC experience, this time allowing a complete reinstall of Windows.
      • This returns the device to its original state and is the supported final step when corruption is as extensive as described.

    These actions address:

    • Persistent app reappearance after uninstall (profile or system corruption).
    • Crashes and blue screens during installs/updates.
    • Inability to complete a hard reset or boot into Safe Mode via normal means.

If data cannot be backed up easily, prioritize the “Keep my files” reset first, then move to full factory reset only if necessary.
