I have two Microsoft Teams accounts linked to email addresses (1) and (2). I also have a Microsoft Account linked to email address (1). I only us the Microsoft Teams account linked to email address (1) but I have realised that I have been paying for Microsoft Teams Essentials for most of the past year in relation to the Microsoft Teams account linked to email address (2), which I do not use.

There is no Microsoft Account linked to email address (2) so I have no way, it appears, to cancel the monthly payments for Microsoft Teams Essentials. So I have had to place a block on future payments which I do not like doing. I much prefer to properly cancel future payments.

I would like to cancel completely the Microsoft Teams account linked to email address (2) because I do not use it and restart Microsoft Teams Essentials with the Microsoft Account and Teams account linked to email address (1).

However, I am not aware of any way to contact support to make this happen.

Peter

    Dear @Peter Holly,

First of all, I want to begin by sincerely apologizing for the frustration and inconvenience this issue has caused you.

As a moderator, I do not have the tools to directly investigate specific user accounts, as this is a user-to-user support platform. Moderators and contributors, including Microsoft contractors, cannot intervene directly in Microsoft product features or access backend systems. Our role is limited to providing technical guidance regarding reported issues, requests, or ideas. However, I will do my best to guide you as clearly as possible.

In this case, I have outlined two specific ways for you to contact the Microsoft Billing Team. They are the only department with the necessary tools to verify your access, investigate your account status, and handle the charge and refund process.

Please help try both options immediately to contact them as soon as possible. This is the best way to ensure your subscription is canceled and that your refund can be processed.

Method 1: Contact Microsoft Data Protection Support by Phone

The most direct method is to call Microsoft's support line to raise a request for cancelling the unexpected subscription. For a full list of regional numbers, you can also visit this official page: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support. The support team will assist you as soon as possible.

Method 2: Create a Temporary Account (Trial Tenant) to Submit a Support Ticket

If you have difficulty reaching an agent by phone, there is a reliable workaround. This involves creating a new, temporary Microsoft 365 account to contact the support team online.

    • Sign up for a new Microsoft 365 Business trial using this link: Compare All Microsoft 365 Plans.
    • Once the trial account is created, log in to its Admin Center.
    • From the Admin Center, open a new Service Request.
    • In the ticket description, explain that you need to cancel the subscription of your primary tenant (your.onmicrosoft.com) and that you need to speak with the Billing team.
    • For reference:  Get support | Microsoft Docs

Important: Please remember to cancel the trial subscription after your original account issue is resolved to avoid any future charges.

Once you can reach out to the Billing Team, you can share:

    • The exact charge description from your bank or credit‑card statement
    • Last 4 digits of the card used
    • A screenshot of the charge (optional but helpful)

Please understand that as forum moderator, my primary goal is to provide helpful guidance and support through general troubleshooting steps. While I don’t have access to internal systems required to resolve account issues, I truly appreciate your understanding of these limitations. I genuinely hope the information I share helps guide you in the right direction, and I'm always here to assist as much as I can within my scope.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to reply below if you have any update or further concern.

Your understanding and co-operation are highly appreciated. Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day!
