Poor SEARCH Function in one drive

Question

I have been using one drive quiet some time ( the paid version )
but i find the search functionality extremely poor

files i have saved 1 or 2 days back whether online or offline ( which have been uploaded) are sometimes impossible to find

is there any specific way to search in one drive?
have any improvements been done by microsoft since i have seen a similar post in 2024
but didnt' find the answer i was looking for ?

I understand your concern about OneDrive search function limitation.

Based on what you describe, OneDrive search may sometimes not return the expected result, especially if the file was uploaded recently or if the search term is too specific.

As a practical workaround, please try searching by:

• Related words from the file name
• File type, such as pdf, docx, xlsx, jpg, or png
• File Explorer search, if the files are synced to your Windows device
• Also try using date filter too to narrow down the item you want to search for in your OneDrive

Also, please make sure the file was uploaded to the correct OneDrive account and is not located in another folder, Recycle bin, or Personal Vault.

When submitting feedback, it would be helpful to include the file type, approximate upload date, search terms used, and whether the file appears in the folder but not in search results. This can help the product team better understand the limitation and review it for future improvements.
