After shutting down and restarting, my laptop no longer remembers my printer.

Have you made the printer your default? Has it been working alright in the past, when did this start?

Hi, I'm John! I will help you with this.

Is the printer connected by USB, Wi-Fi, or Ethernet?

After the restart, does the printer completely disappear from Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners, or does it show up as Offline?

In the meantime, if you haven’t already, please try these steps:

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc and press Enter.
    • Find Print Spooler.
    • Make sure it is Running and Startup type is set to Automatic.
    • Restart the computer and check if the printer remains installed.

If it is a USB printer, try a different USB port and check Device Manager for any devices with a yellow warning icon.

What is the make and model of the printer, and did this start after a Windows update or any recent changes to the laptop?
