I have updated payment information and paid subscription. Still getting notices to do so when I pull up an existing or new spreadsheet, etc. My account show that nothing is due until 2027. Why is this happening?

    Open Word.

At the top right of Word, log out of Office.

Restart (not shut down) your PC, then log back into Office, is your subscription then recognised correctly.

If not, log into your Microsoft account on this link, check the expiry date listed on your subscription, is that listed correctly.

    https://account.microsoft.com/services/

If not, go to the Payments and Billing section, is it indicated your payment has been processed correctly.

The notices usually appear when Office thinks there is a billing or subscription problem, even if the subscription page shows paid through a future date. Common causes and fixes are:

    1. Confirm the subscription is active and not expired/suspended
      • Close all Office apps.
      • Go to your Subscriptions page.
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft account used in Excel/Word.
      • Under the Microsoft 365 subscription, verify the status is active and the next charge date is in 2027 (not expired or past due).
      • If it shows expired or past due, follow the renewal or Pay now flow there.
    2. Verify payment information is fully up to date
Even if the subscription shows paid, an error on the payment method can keep triggering the banner.
      • Close all Office apps.
      • Go to your Payment options.
      • Check for any error or warning on your card/PayPal. If present, select it and update the details (name, billing address, expiration date, CVV) or add a new payment method and save.
      • If you had a past‑due balance and just paid it, make sure the payment went through under Services & subscriptions (no Pay now button showing).
    3. Make sure Office is signed in with the same account that owns the subscription
If Excel/Word is signed in with a different Microsoft account than the one that has the active subscription, you can see billing warnings even though another account is fully paid. Sign out of Office and sign back in with the account that shows the active Microsoft 365 subscription on the Subscriptions page.
    4. Restart Office (and, if needed, Windows) after fixing billing
After updating payment or clearing any past‑due state, close all Office apps and restart the device. This forces Office to refresh the license status. In similar cases, the billing warning disappeared only after a restart once the subscription and payment were correct.

If after these steps the Subscriptions page shows the subscription as active and paid, payment options show no errors, and Office is signed in with that same account, but the banner still appears, contact Microsoft Support for a billing/licensing check, as the issue can be a backend glitch even when the account shows paid through 2027.
