Hello Microsoft Team,

We experienced a service interruption impacting Azure Virtual Desktop users across multiple host pools (RBKC and Sandwell) on 18 June 2026 between approximately 20:30 and 21:00 IST.

Symptoms

  • Users were unable to connect using Windows App.
  • Error received:

"This computer can't connect to the remote computer. The remote computer did not send an expected activation packet in time allotted."

Environment

  • Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Region: UK South
  • Multiple host pools affected simultaneously
  • Multiple session hosts affected
  • Users across different locations impacted

Observations

  • Session host VMs remained online.
  • Direct VM access remained available.
  • Service recovered automatically after approximately 15-30 minutes.
  • No configuration changes were performed during the outage.
  • No current Service Health incidents visible related to Azure Virtual Desktop.

Request

Please investigate whether there were any:

  • Azure Virtual Desktop Broker issues
  • Gateway issues
  • Authentication service disruptions
  • Networking incidents
  • Regional service degradations

during the above timeframe affecting UK South.

Please provide root cause details and confirmation whether this was a Microsoft-side service event.

Thank you.

Regards, Deepak Kumar-IT ( Sera Neon)
