Hello Microsoft Team,
We experienced a service interruption impacting Azure Virtual Desktop users across multiple host pools (RBKC and Sandwell) on 18 June 2026 between approximately 20:30 and 21:00 IST.
Symptoms
- Users were unable to connect using Windows App.
- Error received:
"This computer can't connect to the remote computer. The remote computer did not send an expected activation packet in time allotted."
Environment
- Azure Virtual Desktop
- Region: UK South
- Multiple host pools affected simultaneously
- Multiple session hosts affected
- Users across different locations impacted
Observations
- Session host VMs remained online.
- Direct VM access remained available.
- Service recovered automatically after approximately 15-30 minutes.
- No configuration changes were performed during the outage.
- No current Service Health incidents visible related to Azure Virtual Desktop.
Request
Please investigate whether there were any:
- Azure Virtual Desktop Broker issues
- Gateway issues
- Authentication service disruptions
- Networking incidents
- Regional service degradations
during the above timeframe affecting UK South.
Please provide root cause details and confirmation whether this was a Microsoft-side service event.
