Hello
I am trying to install a virtual world game app. When I attempt to log in, my screen gets a message in a white box that reads

"Error invalid Char 0 at position 11."

I reinstalled the game multiple times, how do I fix this?

    Hi jazz,

This issue might not be related to Windows but the game itself.

Please double-check if the game has any updates. You may re-download the installation package then re-install the game to see if the problem can be resolved.

If the problem persists, please provide me the name of the game and the source that you have downloaded.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi!

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.

Can you tell me the name of the game that you installed and during the installation process are there any error that you encountered? Also, when does the error appear before or after you click login to the game?

The error message is not covered in the context, but there are general troubleshooting steps for game installation and launch issues on Windows 11 that can be applied.

    Try these steps in order:

    1. Clean temporary files
      1. Select Start and type %temp%, then press Enter.
      2. In the window that opens, select Organize > Select All.
      3. Select Organize > Delete, then confirm with Yes.
      4. Try installing and launching the game again.
    2. Install all Windows Updates
      1. Select Start > All Programs > Windows Update.
      2. Select Check for updates.
      3. When the scan completes, select View available updates or Important updates are available.
      4. Select all important updates and install them.
      5. Restart the PC if prompted, then try the game again.
    3. Update Windows Installer (if using an older game on Windows 10/11 upgraded from Vista/XP) If the game uses Windows Installer and the system was upgraded from older versions (Vista/XP), install the latest Windows Installer from the page in the context and then retry the game setup.
    4. Try installing to a different folder or drive If the game setup allows choosing an install path:
      1. Start the game installer but do not choose any “Express Install” option.
      2. When a Change button for the install path appears, select it.
      3. Change the path to another folder or drive, for example: D:\Program Files\GameName.
      4. Complete setup and then try logging in again.
    5. Check the disk for errors
      1. Open Start > Computer (or This PC).
      2. Right‑click the system drive (usually C:), select Properties.
      3. On the Tools tab, under Error‑checking, select Check Now.
      4. Select Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
      5. Select Start, let the scan complete, then try the game again.

If the problem persists after these steps, the error is likely specific to the game’s login or server logic. In that case, contact the game’s support with the exact error text and the account name being used (but not the password), as the message suggests an invalid character in the login data at a specific position.
