Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hello Timothy Hart
I can see that you want to reinstall Office 2016
Since you have already removed Office from the old laptop, you can now try transferring it to the new laptop by reinstalling and activating it there.
Here is what you can try:
- On the new laptop, go to the Microsoft account or original installation source that was used for Office Professional Plus 2016, then download and install Office. If the product was provided through an employer, Workplace Discount Program/Home Use Program, or volume licensing, the installation method may be different and may require the original product key or installation source.
- After installation, open Word or any Office app.
- If you are prompted to activate, try Activate over the Internet first from the Activation Wizard.
- If internet activation does not work or it says the license has already been used, choose the option that shows the Installation ID in the Activation Wizard. Then go to the Product Activation Portal here: Product Activation Portal. Enter the Installation ID there to get a Confirmation ID, then return to the Activation Wizard and enter the Confirmation ID to complete activation.
- If this is a volume license copy of Office Professional Plus 2016, activation may use MAK or KMS. If KMS is required, you will need help from the organization or administrator that provided the license.
Feel free reply back to this post if you need further assistance, I'll be happy to help.
