Hi Microsoft Support Team, I’m experiencing a serious issue after a failed Windows 11 update. The system automatically downloaded and attempted to install the 2026-06 Security Update (KB5094126) (build 26100.8655). I proceeded with the restart when prompted, as previous updates had worked normally. However, this update took an unusually long time during the reboot process and remained stuck at 98% for around 6 hours. Eventually, Windows displayed “Something went wrong, undoing changes” and rolled back the update. After this rollback, the system has become heavily unstable. Many applications no longer open or crash immediately, and Microsoft Store is completely broken showing error code 0x80073CFE. I have already tried several troubleshooting steps including running wsreset, SFC and DISM scans, resetting and re-registering Microsoft Store, and performing repairs through Windows Recovery Environment. I also renamed the AppRepository folder in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\AppRepository to force Windows to rebuild it, which it did, but the issue still persists. At this point, it appears that the failed update rollback has caused deeper corruption in the Windows AppX / StateRepository / AppRepository system rather than just a Store cache issue. I suspect the StateRepository database or AppX deployment state may be damaged, possibly worsened by low disk space during the update. I would appreciate guidance on whether an in-place repair install is required or if there is any supported method to fully repair or reset the AppX and StateRepository system without reinstalling Windows.

The June KB5094126 update is causing many people problems, especially if the update fails, the roll back is causing system instability, the best option to resolve this is to perform an in-place repair with the Windows 11 ISO to stabilize the Windows installation, if you are short of space on your drive, it would be best to clear some space on the drive, you will need at least 15GB of free space for the in-place repair.

Please ensure you download the ISO in the same language as you use for the Windows UI, follow the steps, this is then not like re-installing Windows, it is just like an update and your personal files, settings and installed software will not be affected.

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11

to download the Windows 11 ISO

When the ISO file completes downloading

    Disconnect from the Internet

Disconnect all external devices with the exception of a mouse or keyboard.

Temporarily disable any 3rd party Anti-virus you may have installed

Then, in Windows File Explorer, double click the ISO and then run Setup.exe and select the Install option.

Very Important - ensure you select the option to keep your files and apps.
