Current Status:

  • SSD is detected.
  • Windows partition is accessible.
  • EFI partition is accessible.
  • Boot files exist.
  • CHKDSK reports healthy disk.
  • System still boots to Recovery with error 0xc0000001.

Questions:

  1. Is there any HP-specific recovery procedure remaining before performing "Reset this PC"?
  2. Could this be caused by a corrupted Windows update or HP firmware issue?
  3. Is there a way to repair Windows without losing installed applications?

Are you able to force your system into the recovery environment using these steps?

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt... etc.

Please try each option one at a time, then see if Windows will boot up correctly.

    1

If there is an option to uninstall the latest update, that may be the best option.

    2

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Repair

See if Windows startup can repair itself.

    3

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to.

    4

If you do not have a Restore Point, go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - Startup Settings and click Restart

Upon restart, press 5 to enter Safe Mode

Are you able to access Safe Mode, and if so, is your system stable in Safe Mode?
